How Does a Barn Door Work?
A barn door slides horizontally along a wall-mounted steel track rather than swinging open on hinges. This makes it an excellent space-saving solution in rooms where a swing door would obstruct furniture, walkways, or adjacent doors. The door hangs from rollers that run along the top track, with a floor guide at the bottom to keep it aligned. Installation requires a solid wall section alongside the opening that is at least as wide as the door itself.
What Size Barn Door Do I Need?
As a general guide, your barn door should be at least 50–100mm wider than the door opening on each side to ensure adequate coverage when closed. For a standard 813mm or 838mm door opening, the 930mm wide Linear Groove door provides sufficient overlap. Always measure your structural opening width and height before ordering.
Finishing Your Pine Barn Door
This door is supplied raw (unfinished pine), giving you full control over the final look. Options include: a clear sealer or varnish to showcase the natural pine grain, a wood stain in any tone from light oak to dark walnut, or a painted finish in any interior colour. Apply your chosen finish before or after hanging — we recommend finishing all faces and edges before installation for best moisture protection.
