Frequently Asked Questions
What are raised and fielded panels?
Raised and fielded panels are a traditional timber door panel construction where the central panel section is raised above the surrounding frame, creating a three-dimensional, shadow-line profile. This style has been used in classic and heritage architecture for centuries and gives solid timber doors a premium, detailed appearance that flush or flat panels cannot replicate.
What frame does this door require?
This arched door requires a matching arch door frame — a standard square-head frame will not fit. We stock the compatible Meranti Arch Door Frame (813 × 2032mm) specifically for this door.
Does this door come with a frame?
No — this listing is for the door only. The matching arch frame must be purchased separately. Contact us at info@doorsdirect.co.za or WhatsApp 087 012 5283 if you need assistance selecting the correct frame.
What hardware do I need for this door?
For a standard exterior door you will typically need door handles, door locks, and door hinges (3 hinges recommended for a 2032mm door).
What finish should I apply to this door?
The door is supplied raw and must be finished before or shortly after installation to protect it from moisture, UV, and weathering. Options include an exterior oil or wood stain to enhance the natural Meranti grain, an exterior primer and paint system, or a clear exterior varnish for a natural look with weather protection. Reapply finish every 1–2 years depending on sun and rain exposure.
Are custom sizes available?
Yes. Custom arched door sizes are available on request. Contact us at info@doorsdirect.co.za or WhatsApp 087 012 5283 for sizing, lead times, and pricing.
What is the lead time for this door?
Lead time is 12–14 days from order confirmation. Nationwide delivery is available across South Africa.
