Frequently Asked Questions

What is included with this barn door?

The door is supplied with a sliding barn door hardware kit. The track mounts on the wall above the opening and the door hangs from it, so no door frame is required.

Is this barn door suitable for exterior use?

No. This is a light-duty MDF door designed for interior use only, such as bedrooms, pantries, laundries, studies and walk-in wardrobes. MDF should not be exposed to rain or moisture.

Can I paint this barn door?

Yes. The MDF surface is smooth and ready for painting. Seal all surfaces, including the edges, with a suitable primer and paint to protect the MDF and achieve a durable finish.

How much wall space do I need beside the opening?

You need a clear section of wall beside the opening at least as wide as the door — a minimum of 900mm on the side the door slides to. This space must be free of light switches, plug points and other obstructions so the door can slide fully open.

What size opening does this door suit?

The door measures 900mm wide × 2040mm high × 40mm thick. Because a barn door hangs on the face of the wall, it should be slightly wider and taller than your opening so it fully covers the opening when closed.

What is the lead time?

The lead time is 4–7 days from order confirmation. Nationwide delivery is available across South Africa.

Where can I buy this MDF barn door?

The MDF Barn Door with 14 Horizontal Grooves is available online at doorsdirect.co.za with nationwide delivery across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, towns, rural areas and surrounding regions.
