Frame & Ledge Meranti Open Back Stable Door — 813 × 2032 × 40mm | Door Only

The Frame & Ledge Open Back Stable Door in solid meranti timber is a practical and characterful choice for kitchen entrances, back doors, and exterior openings across South Africa. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a stable door?

A stable door is split horizontally into two independently opening halves. The bottom half can remain closed while the top half is open, allowing ventilation and light while keeping pets or children safely inside.

Is this door suitable for exterior use?

Yes — solid meranti is weather-resistant when all 6 sides are properly treated with an exterior wood sealant or stain before installation.

Does this door come with a frame?

No — this is a door only. You will need to purchase a frame separately. We recommend our 813 × 2032mm Door Frames, available on doorsdirect.co.za.

Can I order a rebated pair of stable doors?

Yes — rebated pairs can be supplied on request. Contact us for a quote.

Can I order this door in a custom size?

Yes — custom sizes are available on request.

What is the lead time?

This door is usually in stock with a lead time of 1–2 days from order confirmation.

Is this door solid wood or engineered?

This is a solid meranti timber door — not an engineered or hollow-core product.

Does this door come with hinges?

No — hinges are not included. We recommend heavy-duty butt hinges rated for exterior use. Browse our Door Hinges collection on doorsdirect.co.za.

Can this door be hung left or right hand?

Yes — as a frame & ledge door it has no pre-routed hinge rebates or lock prep, so it can be hung in any direction to suit your opening.

What hardware do I need for this door?

For a stable door you will need Door Handles, Door Locks, Door Bolts (to secure the bottom half independently), and Door Hinges. All available on doorsdirect.co.za.
