The NC22F is a mid-level timber cottage pane (small pane) window designed for exterior use in South African residential and light commercial buildings. Featuring two side-opening casements, two centre fanlights, and fixed middle panes below the fanlights, this wide-format window combines the classic cottage aesthetic with enhanced height and natural light — a popular choice for homes across South Africa, from Gauteng to the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal coast. Supplied complete with fittings and available with nationwide delivery.
A cottage pane window — also known as a small pane window in South Africa — features multiple smaller glass panes divided by timber glazing bars, creating a traditional, charming aesthetic. This style is widely used in South African homes, particularly in heritage, Cape Dutch, and classic residential architecture.
A fanlight is a small fixed pane positioned above another pane within the window frame. In the NC22F, the two centre fanlights sit above the fixed centre panes, adding extra height, additional natural light, and visual interest to the window elevation. Fanlights are a traditional feature commonly found in Cape Dutch and Victorian-era South African homes.
The NC22F has: two side-hinged opening casements (left and right) that open outwards for ventilation, two centre fanlights (fixed) positioned above, and fixed middle panes below the fanlights. All panes are divided by timber glazing bars in the cottage pane style.
The frame opening is 2161mm wide x 940mm high x 70mm deep. Always verify your wall opening dimensions before ordering to ensure a correct fit.
This window is fitted with easy-clean yellow passivated friction hinges (mild steel), also commonly referred to as passivated friction stays. The yellow passivation treatment provides corrosion resistance, and the friction mechanism holds the casement open at any position without requiring a separate stay arm.
The window is supplied complete with easy-clean yellow passivated friction hinges and solid brass handles. No additional hardware purchase is required for the opening casements.
No. Glass is not included. Timber windows are supplied as frames only — glass must be sourced and fitted separately by your glazier.
Yes. This is an exterior-rated timber window suitable for standard South African residential wall openings. Timber windows should be properly sealed, painted, and maintained to ensure longevity in exterior applications, particularly in coastal or high-humidity environments.
The timber sections are: Head 56mm x 44mm, Cill 44mm x 44mm, Stiles 44mm x 44mm, and Opening Casement Section 34mm x 44mm. These are standard mid-level timber window profiles.
The current lead time is 12–14 days from order confirmation. Nationwide delivery across South Africa is available.
