The Smart Handle Lockset includes an integrated 304 stainless steel mortice lock (in your choice of 40mm, 50mm, or 60mm backset), making it a complete locking solution in one kit. The Smart Handle (sold separately) does not include a mortice lock and is suited to doors where a lock body is already fitted or sourced separately.
Which backset size do I need?
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the lock cylinder hole. Measure your existing lock or door preparation to determine the correct backset. The most common sizes in South Africa are 40mm and 60mm. If unsure, contact us before ordering.
Is a cylinder included?
No — the cylinder is not included and must be sourced separately. Contact us for compatible cylinder options.
Does this smart handle come with a remote?
No — a remote is not included. The BBL Smart Handle Lockset is operated via fingerprint, PIN, RFID tag, Bluetooth, voice command, or mechanical key. An optional smart remote is available separately at doorsdirect.co.za/products/smart-remote.
Does it come with RFID tags?
Yes — the handle includes 2 RFID tags. Additional RFID tags can be programmed up to a maximum of 200 users.
Do I need WiFi to use this lock?
No — the handle operates fully via fingerprint, PIN, RFID, Bluetooth, voice command, and mechanical key without WiFi. WiFi remote access requires an optional gateway, sold separately.
What happens if the battery dies?
The handle has a USB emergency power port — connect a power bank to temporarily power the unit and gain entry. A mechanical key backup is also included for emergencies.
