A heavy-duty solid core interior door faced with Okoume veneer (also known as Commercial veneer), built for demanding residential and commercial applications where a standard hollow core door is not sufficient. The solid chipcore construction provides excellent rigidity, sound attenuation, and a stable substrate for painting — making this door a preferred choice for offices, hotels, schools, and high-traffic residential spaces.
Supplied raw and unfinished with exposed edges, this door is ready to paint or stain on site to match your interior scheme.
⚠️ Please Note: This door is 762mm wide — narrower than the standard 813mm South African door. It is designed for existing 762mm openings or purpose-built frames. Verify your opening width before ordering.
Okoume (Aucoumea klaineana) is a West African hardwood species widely used as a commercial door veneer in South Africa. It has a uniform, fine-grained surface with a pale pinkish-brown tone that accepts paint evenly and consistently — making it the standard choice for painted interior doors in commercial and institutional environments. It is sometimes referred to simply as “Commercial veneer” in the South African trade.
Exposed edges means the door leaf is supplied without a solid timber lipping on the long edges. The chipcore is visible at the edges. This is standard for solid core doors and is suitable for most interior applications. If you require a lipped edge for trimming or a cleaner finish, contact us to discuss options.

What size opening does this door fit?
This door is 762mm wide × 2032mm high. Note that 762mm is narrower than the standard 813mm South African door — it is designed for existing 762mm openings or purpose-built frames. The door fits a 813mm wide × 2032mm high door frame (allowing for frame rebates and clearances). Please verify your opening size before ordering — this is a made-to-order product and cannot be returned if ordered incorrectly.
What is the difference between solid core and hollow core?
A solid core door has a continuous chipcore or timber core throughout the door leaf, making it significantly heavier, more rigid, and better at attenuating sound than a hollow core door. Solid core doors are preferred for offices, bedrooms requiring privacy, and any application where a hollow core door would be insufficient.
What is Okoume / Commercial veneer?
Okoume is a West African hardwood species used as a face veneer on solid core doors. In the South African trade it is commonly called “Commercial veneer”. It has a smooth, uniform surface that is ideal for painting.
Can I paint or stain this door?
Yes. This door can be painted or stained. Painting is recommended as the Okoume veneer provides an excellent, consistent surface for paint. If staining, note that the veneer layer has limited depth — test on a scrap piece first.
Does this door come finished?
No. The door is supplied raw and unfinished. All surfaces (including top and bottom edges) should be primed and painted or sealed before or after installation to prevent moisture absorption.
Can I get this door in a custom size?
Yes. This door is available in custom sizes. Contact us with your required dimensions and we will advise on availability and lead time.
What is the lead time?
Lead time is 12–14 days from order confirmation.
Can I hang this door on standard butt hinges?
Yes. This door is designed for standard swing operation and can be hung on conventional butt hinges. Hardware is not included.
